The Dow Jones News Fund arranges summer internships for college students in newsrooms across the country in data journalism, digital media, business reporting and multiplatform editing.
There’s still time to apply if your newspaper would like to request interns from any of the DJNF programs.
DJNF interns are ready to work on Day One and are highly motivated, energetic, technologically-skilled and eager to use their talents to expand their horizons.
Before data students hit their newsrooms, they spend a week going through the Investigative Reporters and Editors boot camp at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
The DJNF program is competitive and attracts some of the best student journalists in the U.S. We try to ensure students are a good match for their newsrooms and even do reference checks. DJNF expects all newsrooms to pay interns at least $525 per week for 10 to 12 weeks and a standard training fee of $1,000. (Waived for nonprofits.)
That money is passed on to the university and its staff; the Fund doesn’t retain any of it.
