In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed a presidential proclamation recognizing Flag Day as the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777. Missouri’s own President Harry Truman signed an Act of Congress on Aug. 3, 1949, designating June 14 as National Flag Day.
Missouri Press has a feature that teaches about the United States flag. It’s available to newspapers at no cost and is a great resource to publish on or before Flag Day. To download the feature, visit mo-nie.com and use the download code: usflag.
