And Francis the Talking Mule — she was a Missouri gal who was owned by a photographer who has since been inducted into our very own Missouri Photojournalism Hall of Fame! There’s so much to learn in this story, written by Missouri author Chris Stuckenschneider!

Missouri newspapers have six months to use this story at no charge. We also are partnering with the National Newspaper Association again to let newspapers across the nation publish the story. Last year our project, combined with NNA’s participation, included more than 400 downloads of the story “Patriotic Pals, Tails of the Civil War.” Wow!
