You can still register to attend the Hall of Fame banquet and help us celebrate these individuals, but you need to register by Thursday, Sept. 12. Visit www.mopress.com/convention for more information about attending the banquet or other parts of the Convention.

Attending the banquet also affords you a unique opportunity to support the Missouri Press Foundation through the Live Auction, featuring the following items generously donated by various individuals and groups.

Live Auction items include:

Kansas City Chiefs tickets – Thanks to a generous donation from Mark Maassen, you and a friend can spend December 8th at Arrowhead stadium watching the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. So, come make a bid on this opportunity, and maybe Taylor Swift will be at the game. Seats are Lower level, Section 107, Row 29.

Norman Rockwell art – This classic Norman Rockwell painting shows Willie Gillis, America’s boy next door, reading his “Hometown News” while serving his country on Kitchen Patrol. This famous piece of Americana has been made even more noteworthy with a beautiful custom frame.

Journalism heritage print – This one-of-a-kind sketch is the basis of a heritage print celebrating the first days of print journalism in Missouri. Missouri artist James Burkhart commemorated the milestones that paved the road that led us all to where we are today. This one depicts a disgruntled city clerk preparing to martyr “Uncle Wes” at his editor’s desk.

Family outings – Enjoy a one-year Family & Friends Membership with 4 additional Omnimax vouchers for their 5-story domed theater while you are in St. Louis. Then Go West, Young Man and use a family pass to the Kansas City Wonderscope indoor/outdoor children’s museum. While you’re in the western part of the state, you can head South to meet incredible and unique animal species in the 350-acre drive-through park, Wild Animal Safari.

Cabin getaway – Enjoy this unique cabin designed by decorated architect Marlon Blackwell. Spend your weekend perched on a bluff overlooking Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas. The cabin is surrounded on three sides by Hobbs State Park.  Steps down the bluff lead you to a secluded cove.  Canoe across the clear water of Beaver Lake and hike the trails in Hobbs State Park. The cabin itself, clad in shou sugi ban siding, has been featured in Dwell Magazine.

Branson getaway – Chateau on the Lake invites the winning bidder to experience a one-night stay in a deluxe accommodation, including breakfast for two in the morning, at an upscale resort just 10 minutes from Branson’s Entertainment District. Take advantage of the panoramic view of Branson from the giant ferris wheel with 40 gondolas & 16,000 LED lights. And step back from the busy world and get busy playing together at Fritz’s Adventure Park.

Stephens College art – In 1833, Columbia’s citizens started a school to provide a sound education for their daughters and more than 100 years later Burkhart captured the magic experience that is Stephen’s College in this sketch of Senior Hall with its irregularly shaped and sized rooms, high ceilings and spacious parlors. To capture Columbia College, Burkhart used the still-standing Rogers Gates that were built as the entrance to the Christian Female College in 1912.

Wine tour and more – You and up to seven friends can enjoy a private tour of Les Bourgeois Vineyards’ The BluffTop at Rocheport with the crush pad, the barrel room, the cellar, the bottling line, and finally the warehouse. Knowing how much time, artistry, and science goes into making every bottle of wine, makes it even more impressive when you head back to The Tasting Room to enjoy a VIP Tasting.

Union Station vacation – Your journey through the St. Louis Aquarium starts along a freshwater river and the shallow waters of a salt marsh, then moves into the deep, dark abyss of the open ocean. And that’s not all that Union Station offers. Explore the shops and attractions with $100 gift card to burn. After you’ve worked up an appetite, use another $100 gift card to enjoy a wide selection of approachable bites and signature drinks at the Pitch Athletic Club Tavern across from CITYPARK soccer stadium.

Pop! art – Embrace the counter-culture movement that was Pop Art and enchant your guests with this miniature lithographic gallery with the iconic shapes and colors that put the Pop! In pop art.
