Missouri Press Association’s 160th Annual Convention and Trade Show is coming up in September, and to help mark this milestone, MPA members are being offered the chance to send even more staff to learn, network and celebrate Missouri newspapers.
All attendees who register for this year’s Annual Convention can get a “buy one, get one” for their newspaper. This means one registration is good for two people to attend the Friday breakfast and lunch, and much more importantly hear all the great speakers that are planned for the day, as well as attend the Saturday brunch and pick up any new awards your newspaper might have won.
Proposed by MPA President Bryan Chester, the MPA Board of Directors voted in June to offer the buy one, get one, or BOGO, incentive to full-time staff members of Active, Active Online and Specialty Publication members.
“The Missouri Press board has been discussing extensively how to utilize some of the resources the Association has, and one of the things I feel passionate about is getting more people to our convention, especially this convention,” Chester said.
He added that several speakers have already been lined up for the convention, which will be Sept. 24-26, at the Broadway Hotel and The Atrium in downtown Columbia.
“We’ve got what I think is a great plan for speakers covering topics that are relevant to our members both editorially and on the revenue side,” Chester said. “That’s one of the reasons I’m excited about the board’s decision to offer this; it gives newspapers a chance to pay one time and send someone from both sides of the business.”
A tentative agenda can be found on Page 20 of this month’s Missouri Press News and the most up-to-date information is always available online at www.mopress.com/convention/.
If you or your newspaper’s other attendees are planning to stay at The Broadway hotel, be sure to reserve your rooms at the special MPA rate of $169 before Aug. 19. Visit bit.ly/MPA160rooms to make your reservation.
