The Sunshine Law’s power is the people’s

Sunshine Week is a nonpartisan collaboration among groups in the journalism, civic, education, government and private sectors that shines a light on the importance of public records and open government. This year, Sunshine Week is March 16-22, and it is the perfect time to show your support for Missouri’s Sunshine Law.

During Sunshine Week, become a card-carrying supporter of open government records and meetings. For just $25, you, your business or civic organization can become a member of the Missouri Sunshine Coalition, showing your support for ensuring Missourians are better informed about how the government conducts the people of Missouri’s business.

Go to bit.ly/SupportSunshine to become a member of the Sunshine Coalition. With your Sunshine Coalition membership, you:

• Help to fund training sessions in Missouri that provide private citizens, elected officials and government employees with a better understanding of Missouri’s Sunshine Law;
• Support education efforts throughout Missouri to keep the Sunshine Law as broad as possible, ensuring the people’s business isn’t hidden by politicians or bureaucrats; and
• Tell Missouri politicians you don’t want to be left in the dark when it comes to knowing how the government by the people, for the people operates.
