Ronald Ray Bogue, 89, a former reporter for the Joplin Globe, died Sept. 22, 2026.
Growing up in Oklahoma, Bogue joined the Navy Reserves after high school then went on to attend Northeastern Oklahoma State University, where he earned his bachelor’s of English and worked on his master’s in journalism at the University of Oklahoma.
While his writing career began with the publication of numerous poems, Bogue worked for United Press International and also spent 26 years with the Globe as a reporter and columnist. He also freelanced for various outdoor magazines.
A self-proclaimed wordsmith, Bogue is remembered by the words he lived by: “Give 100% at all times. Do what is right.”
In addition to Linda, his wife of 51 years, he is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; along with many more family and friends.
