160th Annual Convention and Trade Show

Vote on MPA’s 2027 officers, directors during the 160th Annual Convention

Missouri Press Association’s Nominating Committee met in July and finalized a slate of MPA officers and directors for 2027, effective Jan. 1.

The election of officers and directors is scheduled during the annual MPA business meeting Friday, Sept. 25, at the 160th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Columbia.

Proposed officers and directors are:

  • 2027 President, Bryan E. Jones, Morgan County Statesman, Versailles.
  • First Vice President, Mike Scott, NEMO News Media Group, Kahoka.
  • Second Vice President, Hannah Spaar, The Odessan, Odessa.
  • Secretary, Abby Hess, West Plains Daily Quill.
  • Treasurer, Sarah Gray, Marshall Democrat-News.
  • National Newspaper Association state chair, Dawn Suggs, St. Louis American.
  • Directors for three-year terms: Gary Castor, Leader Publications, Jefferson County; Allen Edmonds, The North Cass Herald, Belton; Jacob Warden, Warden Publishing, Owensville; and Kyle Troutman, Cassville Democrat.

Continuing on the MPA board in 2027 will be directors Donna Bischoff, Bridge Tower Media, St. Louis; Ron Schott, Wright County Journal, Mountain Grove; Tim Schmidt, Westplex Media, Montgomery City; and Jaime Mowers, Webster-Kirkwood Times, St. Louis.

Serving as immediate past president in 2027 will be Bryan Chester, Columbia Missourian.

The nominating committee this year was chaired by Peggy Scott, Leader Publications, Jefferson County.
