Unlike the previous three sessions, the Missouri Legislature worked steadfastly and found common ground on numerous issues throughout the session. Over the last nineteen weeks the House and Senate worked to pass a $52.8 billion state operating budget, 67 bills, and successfully confirmed numerous cabinet positions for recently elected Governor Mike Kehoe (R).   more
Two weeks remain in the 2025 Regular Session. Earlier this week, the Senate passed the House budget bills, with each Chamber naming its conferees for budget conference committees this morning. This sets up conference debates between the two sides next week to agree on the final form of budget bills that each Chamber must approve by next Friday, May 9th.  more
It was a short legislative week, as the General Assembly was off on Easter Monday. Senate floor activity slowed considerably this week. On Tuesday, the upper chamber third read a House bill relating to landlord-tenant and real estate transactions. Yet on Wednesday the Senate returned to a House bill seeking to modify “Prop A” ballot language that passed last year relating to minimum wage and sick leave. more

With the General Assembly constitutionally required to adjourn by 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16th, only five weeks remain in the 2025 Regular Session. The General Assembly is further constitutionally mandated to pass all appropriation bills a week prior, by 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9th. The House Budget bills made their way to the Senate this week, and the Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to begin budget markup next week. more
Only 6 weeks remain in the 2025 legislative session. This week, the topic of state revenues took center stage in both chambers. While the House finalized the state budget on Thursday, the Senate spent much of its week debating whether to phase out the state’s capital gains tax. more
