Kristie Fortier

Membership Director and Meeting Planner

Posted

Kristie Fortier was born and raised in Southwest Missouri, calling both Springfield and Mt. Vernon home. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Ozarks Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Missouri.

During college and after graduation, Kristie worked in the hotel industry, where she became increasingly curious about the associations and groups she encountered through her work. That curiosity eventually led to a career opportunity in 2006, when former MPA Executive Director Doug Crews hired her for her current role.

Since then, Kristie has proudly served the Press Association, developing a deep admiration for its members. “I feel like I ended up exactly where I belong,” she says. “I can’t imagine a better group to work for. Newspaper professionals are incredibly community-minded, take their responsibilities seriously, and have some of the biggest hearts and strongest work ethics of anyone I’ve ever met.”

Kristie lives in Columbia with her husband, Jeff, and is a proud “bonus mom” to his daughter, Hannah. She’s also a devoted furbaby mama to two cats, Tesla and Sabrina, and two Pomskies, Kane and Ari.
