Matthew Barba is editor of Missouri Press News, the Association’s monthly printed magazine, as well as MPA’s weekly eBulletin, which is distributed to more than 500 staffers of MPA member newspapers, journalism industry professionals and friends of newspapers located throughout Missouri and beyond. Barba also handles various email distributions to the MPA members, the Missouri Press Service’s Flash! News press release service and helps administer the annual Better Newspaper Contest.
Barba has been with Missouri Press since October 2015. He started in the newspaper industry in November 2007 at the Morning Sentinel in Centralia, Ill., where he reported on community news in a five-county area. He worked his way up to managing editor of the Mt. Vernon Sentinel before moving back to his home state of Missouri, to become editor of the Bolivar Herald-Free Press in February 2013.
In addition to his wife, Amber, and daughter Raylan, he shares his home with two dogs and entirely too many LEGO bricks. While there are many different LEGO sets, his favorite displays are repurposed typeset trays used to showcase minifigures and various other creations.
