Ronald Timothy “Tim” Engle, 61, of Kansas City died Feb. 19, 2026, at home from complications of a hereditary health condition.
Engle’s career included newspaper journalism, education and public relations, including 21 years as a features writer for The Kansas City Star. Most recently, he was communications coordinator at Metropolitan Community College since 2015.
Other journalism work included serving as editor The Dispatch-Tribune in Kansas City North and becoming editor of Kansas City’s Wednesday Magazine. Well-trained, exacting and deeply committed to "getting it right," colleagues likely recall his ever-present purple pen — the only color he ever used for editing.
A journalism and public relations/advertising graduate of University of Central Missouri, he earned his master’s in journalism from the University of Kansas.
