Celebrate the 240th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence

July 4 is the 240th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

Missouri Press, in partnership with The Missouri Bar, has created a new educational feature to commemorate the anniversary and teach readers young — and older — about the document that contained the ideas that eventually brought forth a new nation.

The Declaration of Independence feature addresses what led to the establishment of the Continental Congress, the principles of the Declaration, a timeline to the ratification and links to more learning. Is the word used in the Declaration of Independence “unalienable” or is it “inalienable?” You’ll have to read the feature to find out!

To access the half-page feature, visit mo-nie.com and use the download code: declaration.
