Welcome to Missouri Press
Missouri Press is comprised of three branches: Association, Foundation and Service. Each of these entities serve a unique purpose, however, all work in conjunction with one another to serve our members and interests of newspapers in Missouri.
Missouri Press Association was founded on May 16, 1867, by Missouri editors and publishers to serve its member newspapers. The Association works to preserve the history of the newspaper industry in Missouri and lobbies in Jefferson City to preserve its future.
Missouri Press Service, Inc. was created in 1954. MPS is your representative for Missouri newspaper advertising. MPS can help you place advertising such as display ads, classified ads, inserts and online ads in any number or combination of newspapers and newspapers websites. We’ll help you develop the list and, if needed, we’ll even produce your ad.
Missouri Press Foundation is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3)non-profit corporation formed in 1984 by Missouri Press Association. Foundation activities include providing journalism scholarships, conducting educational seminars, giving journalism merit awards, coordinating Newspapers In Education programs, collecting and preserving historical printing equipment, operating museums, and other activities deemed appropriate by its Board of Directors.
Newspapers are important employers in over 230 Missouri cities and towns. Newspapers play a key role in communities, keeping local citizens informed, stimulating local retail business and fostering economic development. If a community loses its local newspaper, what institution will next be lost … the school, the bank, the hospital or possibly your favorite local restaurant or retail store? Newspapers and the free flow of information are essential for a progressive Missouri.
