Newspaper In Education Week is commemorated the first week in March. There are several new resources available to emphasize the importance of young people reading newspapers.
Students in Clyde Bentley’s Editorial Writing Class at University of Missouri have written guest editorials that may be used in your publications. This year, the American Press Institute (formerly the Newspaper Association of America Foundation) has partnered with the Newseum on materials to create the annual NIE week curriculum.
Each unit contains two lessons for middle- and high-school students, along with extension activities for elementary students. Units are organized as follows:
