Why the Magna Carta is important on Constitution Day

The Magna Carta established the principal that no one is above the law. Written 800 years ago by 13th century barons trying to protect their rights and property from a tyrannical king, the American colonists inserted those same rights into the laws of their states and later into the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
