“Thank a Farmer Week” in Missouri is Feb. 7-13 and Missouri newspapers have a terrific opportunity to promote agriculture in our state to young readers with the Newspaper In Education feature, “Agriculture is Everywhere,” just created in partnership with the Missouri Farm Bureau.

The new feature is available in two formats: a full-color 12-page educational special section and an 8-part in-paper series.

Missouri Farm Bureau is printing an initial supply of 50,000 copies of the special section and making them available to Missouri newspapers to share with their readers – young and older. Orders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The Farm Bureau has generously agreed to ship the tabs to Missouri newspapers at no cost.

The special section provides information on everything from Missouri grains, livestock, specialty agriculture like farmer’s markets, fruits, nuts bees and timber to natural resources such as soil and water. The center spread highlights Missouri’s top commodities by county.

Take advantage of this offer to reach out to schools in your community and provide the resource to classrooms. The feature was written for elementary students but the information will appeal to readers of all ages.

Some newspapers plan to insert the feature into their newspapers. Reach out to your local Farm Bureaus for partnerships in bringing this resource to your readers, either as a supplement or as a series inside your newspaper this spring.

To take advantage of the opportunity to order free copies of the “Agriculture is Everywhere” special section, return the order form or email the information to Dawn Kitchell, dawn.kitchell@gmail.com. Remember, the Farm Bureau offer is available only while supplies last. To ensure you have inserts by Thank a Farmer Week, place your order by Jan. 20.

The 8-part in-paper series will be available to download in mid-January from mo-nie.com using the code: moag16.
