To friends, supporters and news media contacts:

The Missouri Sunshine Coalition is sharing two items — a newsletter and a guest column — in advance of the March 14-20 national observance of Sunshine Week.

SUNSHINE NEWS & NOTES – MARCH 2021 — This is the fifth in our series of Missouri-focused newsletters started in May 2020. It is rich with details on recent court actions, challenges to transparency and successes in opening public records.

We encourage you to share this copy with others, especially with those in your organization and acquaintances who support the cause of government openness. The newsletter is provided at no charge.

SUNSHINE WEEK GUEST COLUMN – MARCH 2021 — This column is provided on behalf of the coalition by Kathy Kiely, a coalition board member and the Lee Hills Chair in Free Press Studies at the Missouri School of Journalism. Here is a photo of Kiely.

News media contacts are invited to quote from the newsletter (or the sources it references) as appropriate. You also are invited to publish the guest column on both print and digital platforms.

In addition, media contacts are welcome and encouraged to contact Dennis Ellsworth, coalition executive director, for questions or interviews.

The work of the Missouri Sunshine Coalition includes raising awareness, educating and advocating for the landmark Sunshine Law. This work is needed now, as much as ever. We appreciate everyone who assists in this effort.

Best regards,

Dennis Ellsworth
