Convention Session Introduction: Mike Jenner

In Association News On

Everyday from now until convention, we will post a preview of one of the sessions for the upcoming MPA convention on Sept 8-10. See a schedule here.

Today, we introduce Mike Jenner who will moderate a Technology Discussion Panel discussing cutting edge issues involving social media, paid content, Deals of the Day and others. As the Houston Harte Endowed Chair at the Missouri School of Journalism, Jenner’s focus is on innovation. Jenner joined the faculty one year ago, coming from The Bakersfield Californian, the family-owned newspaper he helped lead for almost 17 years. Jenner talked about some of his research findings at the Show-Me Press meeting in Hannibal in June. A graduate of the journalism school, Jenner also was managing editor of The Hartford Courant and served in key roles at The Philadelphia Inquirer, Columbia Daily Tribune, Coffeyville (Kan.) Journal and Hattiesburg (Miss.) American.

The Friday morning panel includes Jane Haslag of the Jefferson City News Tribune and Central Missouri Newspapers, Inc., Jon Rust of the Cape Girardeau Southeast Missourian and Rust Communications, Andy Waters of the Columbia Daily Tribune, and Jeff McNiell of the Houston Herald.
