Missouri has joined the group of states this year that permit the sale of marijuana for recreational use, beginning next week. This brings up special challenges for newspapers faced with the prospect of accepting needed advertising dollars while worrying about protecting their precious postal permit.

Attached to this email, as well as available online at www.mopress.com, is a memorandum for Missouri Press Association members from Jean Maneke, MPA Legal Hotline Attorney, about including recreational marijuana advertising in your newspaper.

Please read Jean’s opinion in full and direct any questions specific to your newspaper to her at jmaneke@manekelaw.com.
