While we wish we were getting together in person this year, with the coronavirus pandemic ongoing it is better for all of us to be safe and not risk unnecessarily exposing someone to illness.

Below is a collection of different items from the 154th Annual Convention and Trade Show that we would normally be together to celebrate.

Gubernatorial forum

Just as a reminder, the Gubernatorial Forum scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, is postponed due to Gov. Mike Parson testing positive for COVID-19.

Hall of Fame inductees

Another reminder, Missouri Press Association will induct this year’s Newspaper Hall of Fame nominees during the 155th Annual Convention and Trade Show, scheduled for September 2021 at The Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs.

This year’s inductees are the late Laura Rollins Hockaday, longtime society editor for The Kansas City Star; Kia Breaux, Midwest regional director for The Associated Press; and Dane Vernon, former publisher of Vernon Publishing and former MPA President.

Contest awards

Below are links to this year’s two contest awards announcement videos. We created pre-recorded videos to make access easier for all of Missouri Press’ members. We hope you will join us in celebrating the journalism and advertising that everyone has worked so hard on over the last year.

In Memoriam

Missouri Press Association considers it one of the greatest honors to share obituary information about its recently deceased members with those still in the newspaper industry.

As we move forward into 2021 and beyond, please help us recognize the men and women who have made a difference in the Missouri newspaper industry, and likely in your own life, by sharing obituary information with the Association’s staff.
